This is a landmark event. Michigan families are going to gather outside of Department of Human Services to speak out against the removal of children from licensed caregivers.
Michigan Moms United calls on the State of Michigan to immediately recognize and adhere to the Michigan Medical Marihuana Act, and stop removing children from the homes of licensed medical marijuana caregivers.
VERY IMPORTANT PLEASE READ: This is not a medical marijuana rally. No marijuana signs please. This will be a tightly run press conference with three layers of activity
1-The press conference will be held in front of the building.
2-Women and children only on the sidewalk in front of the building, holding hands and singing.
3-We are asking the men to come in veteran regalia, or bring signs and American flags and line the street in order to hold space for the press conference and the singing women and children.
The Michigan Medical Marihuana Act was enacted in an effort to serve the chronically ill and dying in Michigan, as well as protect families from police encounters.
Child Protective Services agency is suppose to protect families and the most vulnerable among us. However, five years after the Act, CPS is still unjustly removing children from state sanctioned patients and caregivers. Steve and Maria Green and their children are the latest CPS victims, and we intend to make them their last.
MMU will hold a press conference in front of the Department of Human Services, who oversees Child Protective Services. We will bring CPS victims from around the state to detail their experiences for the media and call on the state to immediately stop taking children from caregivers and patients, and return Bree Green to her parents.
Please dress well and stand up for Michigan families and the Green family.
